Helena Perret Hartfield, 83, passed away, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Helena was born to Wester and Antoinette Perret, Sr. in Gramercy, LA. She was the older sister of Wester Joseph Perret, Jr., Glen Joseph Perret and the late Clayton Thomas Perret. Helena was the beloved wife of the late Billy Ray Hartfield and the devoted mother of Mechele Shirley and Laura Ducote. Mother-in-law to the late, Brishen Ducote. Helena LOVED her grandchildren! Her five precious grandchildren are Ashlyn, Christopher, and Sydney Shirley and Sebastian and Lilly Ducote. The only thing more important than her family was her strong love and devotion to God.
Helena was a sweet, caring, smart, funny and faithful woman. She always had a smile on her face and amusing stories to share. Her laughter was contagious. She believed that good or bad, life was an adventure. You just needed to have faith in God and the love and support of family to get you through. Helena loved her family and was a strong Catholic Christian. Helena was a devoted member of the St. Catherine of Siena's Rosary Altar Society, The Legion of Mary, and the SCS Women's Club. She attended mass daily. She served as a Eucharistic Minister both in church and for the Homebound. On Fridays, Helena volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for East Jefferson General Hospital. On Thursday nights she devoted her time to Jesus in the Adoration Chapel.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at THARP FUNERAL HOME, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM. Interment in Restlawn Cemetery, 4040 Hwy 90 W., Avondale, LA.
