Isabel Herzog Winsberg was born in New Orleans on November 27, 1941. She passed away on January 8, 2018. She was the daughter of Julius Herzog and Ruth Sizeler Herzog. Isabel is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Judge Jerome Meyer Winsberg, her son Marc and his wife Lori, her son Michael and his wife Connie, her six grandchildren, Luci, Gabriel, Matthew, Stafford, Meyer and Cy, and her brother Mitchell Herzog and his wife Ronda. Isabel graduated from Alcee Fortier High School and attended Tulane. She worked from the time she was thirteen, primarily in retail. She owned Linens, a fine linen store in Canal Place for a dozen years, then helped manage The Linen Registry for many years. Isabel also worked on the Touro Dialysis Unit, where she was beloved by the patients. Izzy was caring, supportive, kind and generous. These attributes fostered and nurtured wonderful long-lasting friendships, some of them from the time she was a little girl. Izzy had many, many friends that she was devoted to, and they to her. Her friends and family remember her as someone who always found the good in others. They also remember her beauty and unique style. She was the leader of the New Orleans Chapter of Recovery International. She devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to the program, and her efforts had a major impact on many lives. Isabel was also a certified Yoga instructor, who taught free classes in her home to anyone who wanted to attend. She loved to walk down St. Charles and around Audubon Park with her cousins and friends. She loved to cook and bake and shared her knowledge with her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her husband, since they began dating in high school. Izzy and Jerry enjoyed frequent trips to Mexico, New York and other cities around the world. She never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s games, recitals or scholastic events or a family vacation. Izzy’s family was everything to her.
