Nancy Robinson Moss, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and supporter of the arts, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 25, 2017 at home with her family.  Nancy was an adventurous spirit - full of light, love, compassion and curiosity.  She inspired others with her generosity and her passion for fine arts, literature, music and New Orleans’ unique traditions.  Nancy was born and raised in the Boston, MA area and moved to New Orleans after meeting her forever love, Hartwig Moss III (d. 2014).  She quickly built an incredible circle of friends and played a vibrant role in the community.  Nancy dedicated her time to working with photographer Clarence John Laughlin, as well as at her gallery on Royal Street (The Collection), and offering her talents to support many New Orleans artists and organizations including the The Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society and KID smART.  Among her many wonderful gifts, she was loved for her ability to bring people together and fill the room and those around her with her great energy and positivity.  She is survived by a son, Robby Moss (Leigh) of New Orleans; two daughters, Marcie Gelfand (Dean) of Santa Monica, CA., and Stefanie Baker (Josh) of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Lynne Bookstein of Chestnut Hill, MA; and five grandchildren she completely adored (Sophie and Drew Gelfand, Hartson and Maddox Moss and Leo Baker), and who cherished each moment they spent with their “Lolly.”  Nancy had an older brother, Peter Robinson of Boston, MA who pre deceased her (d. 2014). In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Nancy’s brave and dignified battle by making a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society http://bit.ly/NancyRMoss. A celebration of life, Rabbi Alexis Berk officiating, will take place at The Labyrinth in Audubon Park, end of Laurel Street, on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11 AM. Friends may visit the family from 10:30 until the time of service. Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home is coordinating services. Condolences may be expressed online at www.tharpsontheimerfh.com.
