I cherished visiting with Miss Sara at Friday lunches at Peristyle. She brightened my days and I am better for knowing her. My sympathies to Carol and family.

I had the privilege of meeting Sara several times during my trips to New Orleans on behalf of NCJW. She was an impressive woman--always sharp, interested, and interesting. I know she will be missed by her family to whom I send my heartfelt condolences and her NCJW sisters or rather daughters. May her memory be a blessing.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the entire Stone and extended family. I moved here in 1973, and it was largely because of the people. Sara Berenson Stone literally represented everything I love and adore about our great city. Besides her brilliant mind, she was a woman of the utmost grace, style and dignified beauty. When I was a lawyer, I had the privilege of knowing her brilliant son, David. There are really no words that can adequately describe someone so magnificent. I’m sure she will be sorely missed by the literally thousands of people whose lives were fortunate enough to be touched by her. A tremendous loss of an even more tremendous person.

Dear Harvey, Richard, Carol, Dr. Berenson, and Mrs. Stone's family,
Words cannot express the sadness we and so many people around the world are feeling about the loss of Mrs. Stone. When we heard the news, it took our breath away. Mrs. Stone personally touched our lives and the lives of so many people. The world will never be the same without her. We are heartbroken because we want to see all of you and express our condolences in person. But I will be having a surgery Monday morning and won't be able to walk for the rest of the day, and so Carmen and I will not be able to see you at the funeral. Please accept our sincerest, heartfelt condolences until we can see you in person.
With our deepest sympathies,
Imre and Carmen Szalai

A life well-lived is a gift but nothing compared to the gifts Sara gave others through her mentorship and service. She gave me my start in community volunteerism and I will be forever grateful for her wisdom, friendship and grace. Sara, you will be forever revered and missed.
