Sarah Leger, age 93, passed away on March 26, 2017 at her home in Jefferson, LA. Beloved wife of Eldridge Joseph Leger, Sr. (married 62 years). Daughter of the late Pascal Verderame, Sr. and Katherine Greco Verderame. Beloved mother of Katherine Leger Simpson (Seth), Eldridge Joseph Leger, Jr. (Eliza), Elizabeth Leger Mullen (Bud), Stephen Arthur Leger (Kay). Grandmother of Major Seth B. Simpson IV (Brandi), Lauren Simpson Lee (Matt), Brett Thomas Simpson, Sharice Leger Richard (Justin), Dr. Joel Leger, Remy Leger, Edward Mullen (deceased), Step Grandchildren Kristie Knesel, and Emily Knesel. Great Grandmother of Jacob and Zachary Lee, Seth, Bailey, and Grant Simpson, Eleanor & Genevieve Richard, Aurora Oddo, and Roman Pierce. Sister of Rosa Rita Verderame Meyers, Pascal Verderame, Jr. and the late Felicia Verderame, Vincent Verderame and Marie Verderame Gennaro. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Sarah was parishioner of St. Agnes parish for 62 years and was a member of St. Agnes Altar Society, Missionary of St. Theresa, Fun Seekers Social Club, Bonco Social Club, School House Squares and Round Dancing Club, Jefferson Volunteers for Family & Community, Inc., Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister, Elenian Carnival Club. She was also a recipient of Order of St. Louis Medal. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for their loving care, especially Dr. Alan Yager. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3310 Jefferson Hwy at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am at church. Additional visitation will be held prior at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
