David Mark Dashev

David Dashev passed away at the age of 76 on Thursday, May 26th after a brief illness. David was beloved by Michelle Dashev, his wife of 14 years. He was preceded in death by his mother Libby Dashev and his father Jack Dashev.

David was born October 21, 1945 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He attended Occidental College in California and received his Master’s degree from Harvard University. David had success in several careers throughout his life, with many superlatives and titles, but his proudest accomplishments included his 31 years of sobriety, managing the musical group the Persuasions, and helping those suffering from addictions or mental illness. Professionally and privately, David was a teacher, friend and mentor to thousands, of all ages, over many decades. His humor, intelligence and curiosity will be greatly missed.

David called both Los Angeles, California and West Palm Beach, Florida home for many years, but he loved New Orleans. David appreciated the city’s rich culture. In recent years, he became a valued member of the AA community, a loyal Pelicans fan and a supporter of the Louisiana Philharmonic.

A Memorial Celebration for close friends and relatives will be held in the near future, in person in New Orleans and via Zoom. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his memory at www.lpomusic.com
