Etta Charlotte Lurie passed away peacefully on February 12, 2018. She was born in Lawrence, Mass. August 5, 1921. She became a registered nurse prior to meeting Dan Lurie (now deceased) at a wedding in Carbondale, Illinois. After a long distance courtship, they married and had a loving marriage and wonderful life in Carbondale. They raised three children, Marlene Katz, Joan Album (Jerry) and Bruce Lurie (Martha) before retiring to New Orleans. Etta was first and foremost a mother and wife. Secondly, Etta was an avid bridge player and reader. She is survived by her three children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 2 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shir Chadash Synagogue.
