Elise Jacobs

Elise Greenwald Jacobs passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 11, 2018 at the age of 104. Beloved wife of the late Bernard S. Jacobs. Loving mother of Barry Jacobs (Lois) and Rick Jacobs. Grandmother of Michael Jacobs (Chris) and Andrew Jacobs (Catherine). Great-grandmother of Joshua Jacobs and Caleb Jacobs. Sister of the late Joseph Greenwald. Daughter of the late Sylvester and Ida Gilston Greenwald. Elise was a native of Patterson, Mississppi and resident of New Orleans and congregant of Temple Sinai for over 90 years. At her confirmation, she was awarded the Virginia Lazurus Medal. She was very smart, being the first in her family to attend college. She graduated from Newcomb with a degree in Social Work, which she practiced throughout the city during the Great Depression. Elise loved to shop and was a passionate and talented Duplicate Bridge player, achieving the rank of Life Master. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Graveside Service at HEBREW REST CEMETERY NO. 3, 4100 Frenchmen Street at Pelopidas, New Orleans, on Wednesday morning, May 16, 2018 at 10:00.
