Gloria Jean Styron

Gloria Jean Styron, 92 passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2023. She was born in New Orleans on March 7, 1930 to the late Edward V. Smith and Lillian Banner Smith and resided in Harahan, LA since 1965. Gloria was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church for over 60 years.

Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Joseph M. Styron, her parents, and her 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, Joseph M. Jr. (Luwenda) and Carol S. Wilson (John), 8 grandchildren, John P. (Meg) Wilson, Christopher (Charity) Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Clayton (Jodi) Styron, Cheri (James) White, Gordon and Byron Styron and Kimberly (Beau) Benoit. Survived by her fourteen great-grandchildren; Ashleigh and Bryce Wilson, Nathan, Rebekah, Daniel, and Lauren (Josiah) Rogers, Noah, Reese and Wyatt Benoit, Gianna and Carmella Styron, and Thomas, Gordon, and Hannah Styron. Also, survived by her one great-great grandchild, Asher Rogers.

Gloria was devoted to all of her family, now she is in peace and in the hands of God. A Mass will be officiated at St. Rita Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Hwy, Harahan, LA 70123 on Wednesday, January 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. Private burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Rita Catholic Church.
