Henriee Gaye Wilson

Henriee Gaye Wilson, passed away on January 11, 2022. She was a native of New Orleans and resided in Metairie for the last 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Martin Wilson, Jr., her parents Horace Butler Reynold, Sr. and Essye Rushing Reynolds, siblings Betty Francies Reynolds (LaRue) and Horace B. Reynolds, Jr. (Verna). She is survived by sibling Cecelia Reynolds and children Henry (Rennie) Wilson, Francies Snoap (Brian), John Wilson, Mark Wilson (Alex),
4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Gaye was active in civic work and community organizations; Workers of Magnolia, New Orleans Fine Arts Club, Literary Study Group, and New Orleans Garden Club. Continuing her father’s legacy in Opticianry she became an ABO Certified Optician and worked many years as General Manager of St. Charles Vision in New Orleans. She was a member of Optical organizations throughout the country. She held leadership positions in each; Louisiana Association of Dispensing Opticians, Opticians Association of America, National Academy of Opticianry, Optical Woman’s Association and the American Board of Opticianry. She had a beautiful voice and sang with the New Orleans Metropolitan Opera briefly. She had many talents and hobbies and especially loved gardening and traveling. She was an avid bridge player ranking as a bronze life master.
A Gathering for family and friends will be held, Friday, February 4th at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie at 10:30am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am. Following the service family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Gaye at Studio II Lounge, 4417 N Interstate 10 Service Road in Metairie.
