Irma Ward Hecker

Irma Ward Hecker, age 100, passed away on January 23, 2023. Born in Bayou Goula, Louisiana and moved to New Orleans when she was two and lived uptown all her life. Beloved wife of the late Charles W. Hecker Sr. Daughter of the late Marie Ida Sentilles Ward and the late John Warren Ward. Mother of Agnes Hecker Sachitana (Donald), the late Gaynel Hecker Hughes (Raymond) and the late Charles William Hecker Jr. (Marleen). Grandmother of Thomas D. Sachitana (Sue), Kerri Hughes Wroblewski (Jeff), Lori Hecker Lafont (Claude), Raymond A. Hughes (Vickie), Charles W. Hecker (DiDi), Great grandmother of Thomas D. Sachitana IV, Dominick J. Sachitana, Raymond A. Hughes, Alex Hughes, Abigail Lafont Crouch (Levi), Ethan Lafont (Shannon), Jordan Wroblewski, Justin Wroblewski, Kamryn Hecker, Charles W. Hecker IV and great great grandmother of Ezra Lafont and Eleanor Lafont. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Eldridge, John, James, Joseph, James Lawrence Ward and her sisters Virgil W. Ryan, Mercedes W. Austin and Aubrey W. Vairin. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved to cook, clean the house, play cards, country music and the New Orleans Saints.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Metairie on Friday, January 27, 2023.
