Jacqueline Marks Cooley, 73, died Thursday March 15, 2018, at home. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 26, 1944 and lived in New Orleans for the last 43 years. Loving wife of Peter Cooley for 52 years, beloved mother of Nicole Cooley, Alissa Cooley Rowan and Josh Cooley, devoted mother-in-law of Alexander Hinton and David Rapp Rowan, and wonderful grandmother to Meridian Hinton-Cooley, Noah Rowan, Arcadia Hinton-Cooley, Madeline Rowan, and Levi Rowan. Daughter of the late Anne and Arnold Marks and sister of Janice Marks. A graduate of Shimer College, she also pursued graduate work at The University of Chicago and The University of Wisconsin. A devout Episcopalian, Jacki managed many projects at St Andrews Episcopal Church and deeply cherished her faith community. Her creative spirit and wit as well as her fierce determination and resilience in the face of adversity inspired her friends and family.
The Eucharistic celebration of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 2, at 10am, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1101 South Carrollton Avenue. A reception will follow in the Chalstrom Parish House. In lieu of flowers, the Cooley family invites friends and family to offer a memorial donation to St. Andrews Episcopal Church in honor of Jacki.
