Janet Beverly Root Bowen

Janet Root Bowen passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 78. She was a native of New Orleans and a lifelong resident of Metairie. Loving wife of the late Gerard J. Bowen Sr. Caring mother of Melissa Bowen Beard and Gerard J. Bowen Jr. (Mary). Grandmother of Trey, Teegan, Max and Avalynn. Daughter of the late Charles Bernard Root and Anna Mary Sievers. Sister of Jacquelyn Root Champagne and the late Clarence Bernard Root. Also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, countless great and great grand nieces and nephews, who will miss their “Nanny Goat” and “Ant” Janet.
Janet was a member of the American Legion Post 377 Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence. She loved traveling to see family, but not by plane. She loved her rose bushes and was a “collector” of odds and ends and unique gifts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans. To share memories and condolences, please visit www.tharpsontheimerfh.com
