Joddie L. Tipton

Joddie L. Tipton died peacefully on April 30, 2022 at the age of 59, and returned to her Lord and Savior to begin a wonderful eternity with Him. She was born on September 19, 1962 to Curtis Ray Tipton of Altha, FL, and Jeanette Agnes Robicheaux of New Orleans.

She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1980. After graduation, she worked at Elmwood Fitness Center for a few years, but truly enjoyed her 25 years at Pizza Hut in Metairie.

Joddie was always happy, outgoing and had the most wonderful smile. Her love and happiness was infectious to anyone she was with. She was a huge Saints fan and loved to sing Jesus Loves Me. Her hobbies included bowling on Saturday nights for many years, playing solitaire, singing, dancing and being around people.

Joddie’s faith was strong and she adored her church, Williams Boulevard Baptist Church, and the members loved her just as much. She was a member there for over 35 years and attended church every Sunday, singing her heart out during Sunday School.

Her roommates were family - Mary Fontenot, Mary Stuprich, and Joann Stewart. Her roommate Dawn Barfield preceeded her in death in April 2021. She enjoyed many activities over the years with her close friends Mona Woodfox and Clay Monroe.

Volunteers of America and their wonderful staff were her home and family for over 25 years, providing compassionate care, love and friendship. She was extremely close to Melody Pritchard and Ellen Norwood, her Facilitators, and her Direct Support professionals – Denise Lee, Karen Perkins, and Cheryl Perkins.

Everyone who knew Joddie has a special place in their heart for her, and shared in much laughter and memorable times. She is in Heaven singing with the Angels.

On Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 9:15 am at Williams Blvd Baptist Church in Kenner, there is a Celebration of Life for Joddie Tipton in the church gym. Attendees should wear black and gold, as she loved the Saints.
