Josie Margaret Coon

Josie Margaret Coon, born May 3, 1926, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Coon, Jr. She is survived by her children Gayle A. Coon (Stanford L. McReynolds) and Edward A. Coon, III (Linda Coon). Loving grandmother of Tammy Schermerhorn (Clarence Schermerhorn), Melissa Scifo (George Scifo, III), Connie Callahan (James Callahan), Edward A Coon, IV (Mary Coon), Daniel McReynolds, Matthew McReynolds (Katie McReynolds) and the late Michael Coon. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was born in New Orleans, LA and resided in Metairie, LA. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. It was her belief and faith in God that made her a faithful and committed wife, mother, and grandmother for 97 years.
Services will be held Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home located at 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. in Metairie at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Internment at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Words of Life Mission Works.
