Jules Gilmore Albert, Jr went to the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the age of 94. Jules was a lifelong resident of the greater New Orleans area, the only child of Jules G. and Bertha Flick Albert. Jules was a graduate of St Aloysius High School in New Orleans. He joined the Air National Guard in 1949, then joined the US Air Force in 1951. While stationed at Virginia Beach, VA, he and Nancy Hendley met and married that same year. They moved to New Orleans, where Jules worked in his father’s business before starting his own home building company. In 1957 he joined the N.O. Home Builders Association, where he developed lifelong friendships. Construction of private homes and commercial buildings was his life’s work. Also, he was a member of the Board of Directors of State Investors Bank. Jules and Nancy had a large family of eight children: Jules G. Albert III (Margaret), Stephen Albert (Susan), Kenneth G Albert (Linda), Robin A Lucas (“Luke”), Scott M Albert (Tammatha), and the late Nancy Marie Albert, Janice Ann Albert, and W. Patrick Albert (Sylvia). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jules’s Roman Catholic faith, Nancy, his children and grandchildren (as well as his boat and Lake Pontchatrain) were the passions of his life.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001 on Thursday, September 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, LA 70006 on Friday, September 2, 2022 at noon, visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, offerings of Masses is preferred. Condolences may be expressed at www.tharpsontheimerfh.com
