Kista Carol Elliott

Kista “Kitty” Carol Burke Elliott passed away peacefully in her home on Monday afternoon, July 9, 2018. She was 76 years old. Beloved wife of the late Billy Joe Elliott. Loving mother of Dawn E. Babineaux (Gail) and Bettye Jean “BJ” Freeman (Carl). Grandmother of Becky Allen (Torey), Gail Babineaux Jr. (Danielle), Krystal Loupe (Chad), Kelly Robertson (Randy), Kattie Troxler (Joey), Grant Candies (Courtney), Lauren Candies (Cole Matherne), and Carl Freeman Jr. Great-grandmother of 17. Sister of Gene Burke, Robert Burke (Judy), Hillary “Jack” Burke, Joe Burke (Judy), Sherry Abrahamson (Sheldon), and the late Jim Burke, June Gasper, John Burke, Gerald Burke, George Burke, and Mary Williams. Daughter of the late Hillary and Margarette Burke. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Kitty was a native of Leslie Hollow, West Virginia and has been a resident of Hahnville, Louisiana for the majority of her life. She made her career on the river as a barge traffic operator, and later enjoyed a part-time position at Winn-Dixie during her retirement. She devoted her life to her family and bringing joy to others. She never met a stranger and will be dearly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 North Causeway Boulevard, Metairie, on Friday evening, July 13, 2018 from 6:30 until 9:00.
