Louis Guy Coles

Louis "Doc" Coles was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He went home to rest with the Lord on June 14, 2022 at age 90.

Doc was born on February 17, 1932 to Lucius Coles and Hattie Hoffpauir Coles in Leonville, LA. He served as a staff sergeant in Korea with the United States Air Force, and then married the love of his life, Rosemary McIntyre, in New Orleans, LA. Together, they had three children: Rosie, Billy, and Rhonda. 

Doc made his career as a switchman for Kansas City Southern Railroad, but if given the choice, he would have been a cowboy. He was a fan of John Wayne, Westerns, LSU, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. He is predeceased by his wife Rosemary and his son Bill, and he is survived by his children Rosie Thibodeaux (wife of Ronnie) and Rhonda Armantrout (wife of Matt); his grandchildren Rachel Harris (wife of Gregg), Bernadette Bienvenu (wife of Jay), William Coles, Jr. (husband of Jeanine), Danielle Butcher (wife of Matt), and Ryan Thibodeaux; his great-grandchildren Jordan, Cali, Sebastian, Isaac, Jase, Kaleb, Benjamin, and Meredith; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie. Inurnment to follow in St Patrick Cemetery #1, New Orleans. A celebration of his life will be held on July 3 in Mandeville.
