Jesus sent his angels to lift up to Heaven, Marilyn Clair Colomb Shaw, on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was affectionately known as “Mimi”. She was 81 years young. Born in New Orleans, LA, on August 9th, 1941. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marguerite Laubersheimer Colomb and Albert Rutherford Colomb, her brother William “Billy” Lee Colomb, her paternal grandmother Alma (Colomb) Hascall and grandfather Dr. John Colomb, DDS, and maternal grandparents (Laubersheimer), her great aunt and uncle Vivian and Millard (Colomb) Hascall. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kearney Bouanchaud Shaw, her daughter Suzette Shaw Keegan (Barry), her sons Kenneth (Misty) and Eric Shaw, a granddaughter, Kelley Keegan (Taylor) and grandsons Kevin Keegan, Casey Shaw, and Harper Shaw, as well as a host of family and friends. She was a graduate of Fortier High School in 1960, After marriage, she resided in uptown New Orleans until 1970, then moved out to Metairie and eventually Kenner, Louisiana in 1975. She worked on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve project until they moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1986. She attended El Camino Community College and after achieving her degree she was employed at The Aerospace Corporation. Her and her husband transferred to Haymarket, Virginia, in 1995. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi international sorority and the Republican Women’s Committee. She was also an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 2018, they moved back to her home town of New Orleans to be close to family, where she became a member of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. This is where she lived out the remainder of her life. She left behind many dear friends along the way.
A Catholic Mass will be held Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Saint Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr, Metairie, LA 70002, with Visitation beginning at 11:30 AM. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Metairie Cemetery (Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home), 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124, in the original mausoleum (Maison de la Pais West) in the back of the property, after which will be a Memorial Gathering for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests plants that can be planted in her memory or donations to the Louisiana Steam Train Association (LASTA) and the American Cancer Society.
