Mary C. “Mee Mee” Marquette, “fabulous since 1920” departed from this earthly life peacefully in her sleep at her youngest daughter Vicki’s home on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the age of 103.
Mary was a very special woman who was loved and adored by all that knew her. She loved spending time with her family especially during the holidays. Christmas Eve and New Years Eve were her favorite holidays. She was a very talented seamstress and loved going to her sewing groups. Mary was the owner of Marquette Hardware in New Orleans and partial owner of Accessories in Brass with her daughters, Sue Snell and the late Cheryl McNally.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis “Dee Dee” Marquette, Sr.; two daughters, Mary Lynn Cressionnie and Cheryl McNally; and parents, Dallas Chatelain and Aliska Lovinia Guillot Guilebeau.
Mary is survived by her three children, Suzanne Snell (Norman), Dennis Marquette, Jr. (Debbie) and Vicki Klein (Jim) and a son-in-law, Alfred McNally. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Mary would love to give a special thanks to Jeff Marquette, Jessica Klein and Debbie Snell for their help in caring for her in recent years. Also to Jim for treating Mee Mee like his own mother and taking great care of her.
Family and friends of Mary are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Metairie, LA 70001 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. She will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
