Merleine R Reith

Merleine Rose Mary Reith, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones and caregivers. She was born on June 5, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late Val A. Reith and Helen Green Reith. Merleine retired from Hibernia Bank in 2000. Merle loved working in her yard and she had a big heart when it came to caring for others. She was one of the most thoughtful people you could have ever known and extended that care and love to animals.


She is survived by her brother Gerard A. Reith, great and great, great nephews and nieces and friends. Merle will be especially missed by her loving grand niece Paula Voisin and her dear and devoted friend Kim Saunee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her dear, longtime friend Clara L. Sciambra and her brothers, Val A. Reith, Jr. and Norman Reith.

The family would like to thank the management and staff of Sunrise Assisted Living in Metairie and the team from Passages Hospice for the love and comfort care that they gave Merle during her final days.

Family and friends of Merle are invited to attend the visitation at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Angela Merici Church, 835 Melody Drive, Metairie, LA 70002. A Funeral Mass will be held immediately following at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jefferson SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
