Raul Arnulfo Cubas

Raul A. Cubas passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018 surrounded by family at the age of 84. He was born July 11, 1934 in La Ceiba, Honduras to Maria Cubas and Brigido Rivera. He was raised in La Ceiba and later graduated from Universidad Autonoma of Honduras.

He married his wife, Nilvia Cubas and was employed by Cerveceria Hondurena. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed participating in soccer in Honduras and will be remembered for his love of laughter, service to his community and devotion to his family.
Raul is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Cubas, his brother Roberto Cubas, his first wife Rosa M. Maldonado, and his nieces Liliana and Marta Cubas.

Raul is survived by his loving wife, Nilvia Cubas, daughters Livia Turcios (Carlos), Sulma Cubas (Melvin), Sonia Villeda, Olga Cubas, Tesla Flores and Merly Rivera, four sons, Amilcar Barahona (Carmen), Carlos and Raul Cubas, and Ernesto Rivera, grandchildren Monica and Carlos Turcios, Justin and Yoselyn Melendez, Roger Zuniga, Yohan and Giselle Linares, Jennifer Cubas, Mario, Chad, and Haile Ward, Pavel, David and Carmen Andrea Barahona, Carlos and Christian Cubas and Raul and Silvia R. Cubas, great grandchildren Gabriel Coto, Isabella Ward, Kamren and Karter Douglas and Carlos and Andrea Cervantes, two nieces Teresa and Melissa Cubas and one nephew Victor Cubas, and his sister in law Magdalena Cubas (Magdi).

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Tharp Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 3 PM. Visitation will begin at 1 PM and continue until Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana, 3340 Severn Avenue Suite 350 Metairie, LA 70002.
