Roy Joseph Barrios, Jr entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in his home in Hammond, Louisiana. Mr. Barrios was 85. He was a native of New Orleans. Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Caroline Soileau Barrios. Father of Roy J. Barrios, III (Jana), Cheri Barrios Lagarde (Mark), and Dana Barrios Candilora. Grandfather of Ashley Gaudet (Brett), Garrett Lagarde (Tonilyn), Rachel Spratt (Tim), Roy J. Barrios, IV, Weber Candilora and Nicole Lagarde. Also survived by nine great grandchildren. Son of the late Roy Joseph Barrios, Sr. and Amelia Childress Barrios. Brother of Thomas Barrios and the late Judy Moreci and Charles Barrios.
Roy Barrios Jr was a distinguished veteran, visionary entrepreneur, passionate gardener and devoted family man, who leaves behind a legacy of achievement, love, and cherished memories. A proud serviceman, Roy served his country with honor in the United States Air Force before embarking on a successful career as a business owner. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication led to the creation and successful management of a generational business that remains family owned today.
Roy’s love for nature and gardening led him to cultivate his beloved property in Hammond, LA, where he delved into the nursery business with fervor.
But above all his accomplishments, Roy found his greatest joy in his role as Paw Paw. He adored spending time with his family, sharing laughter, wisdom, and cherished moments that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Roy’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his family, friends and all who were touched by his kindness, generosity and zest for life. His legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and love for family will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
