Ruby Mae Messina

Ruby Mae Porche Messina, a resident of Harahan, Louisiana, passed away on November 27, 2022 peacefully at her home in Harahan, LA surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old.
Ruby is survived by her children Ronald Dupre (Patti) and Dennis Dupre. Her step children Lori Messina Piner, Chuck Messina, Lisa Messina Parker and Steven Messina. Ruby loved and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren Paul Dupre, Ryan Vigreux, Megan Messina, Jacob Messina, Michael Perrett and Matthew Perrett. Ruby is predeceased by her husband Pascal “Charlie” Messina, daughter Patricia Fae Millet and her grandson Jason Michael Dupre.
Ruby was born in Harahan, LA and raised her family there. Ruby was the Credit Manager for Hill-Behan Lumber Co. for 30 years. Ruby loved to play the piano and accordion entertaining her friends and family. Ruby met the love of her life Charlie and they lived a full, wonderful life together. They were married 48 years and everyone said they were joined at the hip. Ruby loved living in Slidell on Lakeview Dr. (A.K.A. Rats Nest Road) with Charlie. She loved to dance, fish and enjoy living on Lake Pontchartrain, even Hurricane Katrina could not stop them from rebuilding their house on the water. Ruby was a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Slidell and the Krewe of the Bildge in Slidell. She loved going to all the club functions with each of the clubs. Ruby will be missed by both her family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services at Tharp-Sontheimer Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, December 2nd 2022. The gathering for the celebration of Ruby’s life will begin at 9:30 am followed by the services at 11:00 am. Ruby will be buried at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001.
