Sandra Elizabeth McCarthy

Sandra Elizabeth McCarthy passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 24, 2023. Sandra was born on March 29, 1943 in New Orleans, LA. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy and Soule Business School and had a 40 year career in banking at First National Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank. Sandra was an active member of the League of St. Jude, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and The Elenian Club. Sandra was also a loyal, enthusiastic, season ticket holder for the New Orleans Saints for 49 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Elodie Millet McCarthy and her brother-in-law Jerry Tarantino. She is survived by her brother Patrick McCarthy (Paula), and sisters Frances Dee Tarantino and Nancy Hernandez (Jerry). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Melanie Goodman (John), Michelle McCarthy, Michael McCarthy (Allison), Ashley Bartek (Michael), Anne-Marie Karp (Edward), Gerard Tarantino (Gianna), Amy Pease (Christopher), Joseph Tarantino (Jennifer), Jason Hernandez (Laura), Jonathan Hernandez (Lauren), Katie Krajcer (Michael) and 26 grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Chateau de Notre Dame for their care and support of Sandra. A private burial was held for the family. Visitation with the family and a Memorial Mass will held on Friday, November 24th in the Chapel of Holy Name of Jesus at Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the Mass at 11:00am. The family request that Masses be offered for Sandra at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
