Stanley Edward Sherman M.D., 86, of Kenner passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018.
Born in 1931 in NYC, Stanley graduated from NYU’s undergraduate and medical schools before moving to New Orleans as the Chief of Obstetrics at the since-closed Army hospital. In his private practice, Stanley was the first New Orleans physician to monitor all of his patients in labor and was also the first physician in New Orleans to use stress testing in pregnant women and chemical determination of fetal
well-being prior to the onset of labor.

Stanley is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 58 years, Joan Sherman, in addition to his children: David(Jane)Sherman, Richard(Lisa)Sherman, Peter Sherman, and Ruth(Jon)Gottlieb. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Philip(Heather), Matthew(Emily), Amelia, Steven, Benjamin, Alan(Rachel), Alex, and Jeslyn Sherman as well as Courtney(Casey) Lane, and Jacob and Dannah Gottlieb. Stanley is also survived by 9 beautiful great grandchildren. Stanley taught each child and grandchild that a good education and strong work ethic are the keys to a long and fulfilling life journey.

A funeral service will be held at Tharp-Sontheimer, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd on Thursday, April 5th, at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Rabbi Robert Loewy officiating.
