Verla Doris Barrios

Verla Doris Rogers Barrios, 87, of Covington, LA passed away on November 13, 2020. She was born on June 10, 1933 to parents J.W.”Bud” Rogers and Nellie Verla Rogers. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; dedicated nurse, retired from Oschner Hospital; Verla was the proud recipient of Great 100 Nurses of LA; best remembered as a faithful follower of Christ.
Verla is predeceased by her parents, J.W. and Nellie Rogers; husband, Roy T. Barrios (1997) and her brother Larry.
She is survived by her children, Laurie (Wesley) Downes, Julie (Richard) Loumiet, Roy “Tommy” (Donna) Barrios; brother, Weldon and sister, Neva; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A visitation will take place at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday (TOMORROW) November 17, 2020 from 10:00 am-11:00 am. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am followed by burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie, LA.
