William J. Catalanello

September 15, 1949 ~ February 26, 2024 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

William J. (Bill) Catalanello, aka “Bill Cat”, left us suddenly on February 26, 2024. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the house he grew up in and where he lived most of his life. He was 74. Bill was born in New Orleans on September 15, 1949, to the late Joseph S. Catalanello and Gloria S. Richardson and was the eldest of five children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Pamela W. Catalanello, a daughter Lisa Marie Catalanello, a brother, Lawrence A. Catalanello, and his stepfather, J. Vernon Richardson. He is survived by one daughter, Jane Catalanello McNulty (Brian), two grandsons, Jack W. McNulty and Harry F. McNulty, a granddaughter, Molly J. McNulty, a stepson, Jeremy Spain (Lora), one brother, Michael S. Catalanello (Vantanee), two sisters, Donna C. Giffin (Wayne), and Nancy C. Hebert (George), and his loving companion, Barbara Keenan. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and co-workers. Bill proudly and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army. He worked for a decade at Shell Oil Company in New Orleans, LA. He was one of the original 14 founding partners of Tipitina’s nightclub (Fabulous Fo’teen), where he worked as a manager during the late 1970’s. He was the first personal manager of the legendary New Orleans rock band The Radiators in the early 1980’s. He worked for many years as a printer and a graphic designer. For 14 years he was editor and publisher of the monthly publication Bleacher Creature. He was a longtime member of the M.O.M.’s carnival organization, and the Society for American Baseball Research.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation from 10:30 am-12:00 pm with a Memorial Service following at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. In lieu of flowers, donations to the NOCCA Foundation, 2800 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA 70117, for the Lisa Marie Catalanello Memorial Scholarship Fund are preferred.
