Winfield Charles Woodruff

Winfield C. “Wimpy” Woodruff, 84, of Metairie, passed on May 18, 2023. Wimpy was born on December 2, 1938 to the late Florina Cooley and Samuel Clarence Woodruff.
Wimpy is preceded in death by his parents, his bothers, Allan Woodruff, S.C. “Tookie” Woodruff, A.R. “Big Al” Woodruff, and his sister, Flo “Puddin” Woodruff Schroeder.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Audrey “Sue” McElroy Woodruff, his son, Michael Woodruff, daughter, Kathy Woodruff Constantine, grand daughters, Kristen Elizabeth Constantine and Kellie Lynn Constantine, god-daughter, Sandra Woodruff Dimm, a host of nieces and nephews as well as his best friend, “Tico-Rico” Woodruff.
Wimpy attended Ella Delonde School and later graduated from Delgado Community College.
He was a Master Woodworker and could fix and build anything with his hands. He was the ultimate Louisiana sportsman and cherished the times he spent hunting and fishing. He loved to talk about hunting as much as he liked doing it and regaled family and hunting buddies with tales from the woods.
He belonged to Miss Moore Hunting Club and Old Thick Hunting Club of Mt. Hermon, LA; also, he belonged to the Carpenter Local 1846 for over 65 years. Amongst his car club memberships were the Magic Carpet Riders, The Rusty Nuts, Early-Ford-V-8 Club and Custom-Cruisers with Pam Larter.
He and Michael owned a 1930 Ford named “Bonnie and Clyde” and a 1940 Ford “Driving Miss Daisy”. Receiving many awards for them
Wimpy left quite a memorable impression on many people and friends he encountered through his life, so will you come and help us celebrate “Wimpy’s last cruise”; please bring your cars and wear your shirts.

A Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001. Services officiated at 1:00 pm by Pastor Raymond Igbogidi of St. Christopher’s Church. Followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans. Donations in Wimpy’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
