Charles (Charlie) Edward Bishop, Jr. passed away on December 4, 2017, age 93, a native of Natchez, MS and a resident of Metairie. Beloved husband of 70 years to Gloria Theresa Brookshire Bishop. Son of the late Homer Maple Wise and Flossie Ruth Nix. Beloved father of Charles (Chuck) E. Bishop, III (Kay), Homer (Ray) Bishop, Gloria (Ann) Bishop Ferguson (Jim) and Judith (Judy) Bishop. Grandfather of Catherine, Marshall, Miles, Kyle, Jessie, Dax and Nikki. Also survived by 9 great grandchildren. Charlie served in the US Navy as an aviation radioman, second class, current member of the American Legion LA Department Post #0175 for 26 years. He was a member in good standing with the Retired State Employees Association. He was a longtime resident of Metairie and well thought of by his community as a man who loved helping others. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Inurnment at 12:30 pm in Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA. in lieu of flowers donations preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
