Molly Gordon passed away on December 1, 2017 at the age of 97. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Dr. Irving Gordon and her son, Dr. Charles Gordon (wife Jan). She leaves three surviving children, Dr. Bruce Gordon (wife Michelle) of Sacramento, Dr. Richard Gordon (wife Helen) of Atlanta, and Lenore Gordon of New Orleans as well as 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Molly was born an artist. At 18, she received a scholarship at the New York School of Applied Design where she won a First Place Award. She went on to attend the Art School League and classes at the Brooklyn Museum. Molly and her husband were New York City natives and spent their first years of married life traveling around the country for Irving’s job with the U.S. Department of Public Welfare and the American Red Cross. They settled in New Orleans when Irving received his dentistry degree. She continued with her art work always putting her family first. In later years, she showed at many galleries.
Molly was unsinkable. She had a strong spirit and took things in stride. She considered herself fortunate to have had a rich, joyful life.
Grave side services are on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:30am Chevra Thilim Memorial Park, 5000 Iberville Street, New Orleans.
