Shirley Koltun Schiffman, age 91 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Wife of the late Leopold “Red” Schiffman. Beloved mother of Janet S. Brauner and Jerry M. Schiffman and her daughter-in-law Rita. Sister of the late Allen B. Koltun and sister-in-law of the late Fleurette Lurie Koltun. Grandmother of Jennifer Schiffman Kagan, Jason Schiffman and Christopher Hall. Also survived by her great grandson, Jacob Kagan. Preceded in death by her son-in-law, Frank Brauner.
Mrs. Schiffman was a native and lifelong New Orleanian, attended Columbia University and graduated from Newcomb College, class of 1947 with a degree in Child Psychology. She was a professional Girl Scout and counselor for many years and a member of Temple Sinai and Sisterhood for over 50 years. She was loved by her adoring family and friends and lived life to the fullest. She was fun!
A memorial service will be held at the Feibelman Chapel of Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 12:30 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rabbi Edward Paul Cohn will officiate. Interment in Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. III will be private. Memorials are suggested to Temple Sinai in Mrs. Schiffman’s memory.
